Couch & Beyond
why and what
of
therapy
as I understand and practice it...
For very many reasons there may come a time in life, when we may find ourselves struggling - at work, in relationships, or with oneself.
Or perhaps, life no longer may feel fulfilling, despite all.

IT IS OKAY TO SEEK 'HELP' AND 'SUPPORT'
FOR
YOUR SELF.

Looking after one's mental health
is a step towards self care.
HEALTH IS MORE THAN JUST BEING 'FUNCTIONAL'.

It must not need to reach a breaking point
or a state of total despair / dysfunctionality,
in order to seek 'support' and 'care' for self.
'Health' is not mere absence of illness.
It is a way of being.
It is being able to live one's life in an optimal way -
-
experiencing fulfilment in relationships
-
finding meaning in life
-
working towards realising one's potential at work and beyond.

'Health' involves emotional growth and 'growth' entails developing psychological capacity within - to experience, express, and embrace more of life, more of ourselves.
In other words, personally and otherwise being able to experience both frustrations and joys that life brings.

This requires us to identify, understand and work through our own emotional bottlenecks
as well as connect with
personal reservoir of health within.

THERAPY IS ONE POSSIBLE WAY TO DO THIS.
Therapy is no quick fix.
Therapy is no magic mantra.
Therapy does not change your past.
Therapy is a slow and gradual process of connecting with oneself, in ways that may not have been possible before.

It is about developing
a deep and authentic relationship
with oneself.

Therapy is about developing camaraderie between different and disparate aspects of ourselves.

The good news is that
one is not alone
in this process!

At Couch and Beyond,
all interventions and initiatives
focus on 'harnessing health'
and 'working through illness' simultaneously.

Both are taken together, in tandem,
as we make sense
of life experiences and person
as a 'whole'.
