Initiating a new life… For Parents-to-be...

This is a slow and gradual process of reflection and introspection that helps us understand and prepare ourselves emotionally as well as psychologically, to the new role of becoming parents. While there is a relative understanding and acceptance of physically orienting ourselves to this new change, very little is thought is given vis a vis psychological and emotional resourcefulness as one embarks on this new phase in life.

Humans are more than just physiology and hence, it is imperative to think of both baby and parents also in emotional terms. Similarly, parenting is not just about preparing for the new member, in terms of creating space and collecting resources, it also necessitates that we understand and emotionally ‘process’ what it may mean to let go of the old ways of life, old ways of being, letting go of our familiar selves and so on. In other words, creating space for new member in the house and in one’s life must essentially include creating room for this change within and also between each other (the couple).

Becoming aware of feelings and understanding apprehensions of one’s own and also of one’s partner, may allow for a more collaborative and communicative partnership as parents, thereby, creating an emotionally sensitive and healthy environment for the child to grow in.

In case this interests or intrigues you, do feel free to write in, to explore what working together on this may look like and how it will be structured.

Storying your way into life…For young children age 5 - 8 years….

This is a small group experience, facilitated through a story session, where young children come together for fun learning. Learning on how to understand, express, share themselves, their feelings and thoughts. To help them develop their own emotional vocabulary to give words to what they may be experiencing.

Themes chosen are very ordinary yet extremely significant. For instance, compassion, empathy, fear, courage, jealousy, shame, anger, creative imagination, sensitive listening to name just a few.

It is done in a sensitive yet easy, light and playful manner, through stories. There is no preaching and no pushing. No instructions, no home work either.

Sole purpose of this is to gently sow seeds of emotional well being and creative copings via stories, with hope that as these children grow, they may have some of these stories acting as helpful reminders and useful metaphors, while navigating through ordinary but challenging situations - at home, in school or outside; with friends or adults, or sometimes within themselves.

In case you may like to facilitate your child’s emotional understanding and expression, and think your child may be interested in stories or be encouraged to think through stories or may benefit by developing some of these emotional skills and attitude, then do write in, and enquire for the next small group process.
